It’s Prime Time for Giving, Thanking, Serving!
December might be the craziest, most hectic month of the year. But it’s also a prime time to talk about Jesus!
Tapping into the penitential season of Advent without crossing over into the joy of Christmas is nearly impossible. And really, the excitement is part of the fun.
How can you make Advent and Christmas about more than just presents?
Give a Gift to Jesus
What can you give someone who has it all…or to a baby you’ve never really seen? This is a hard concept for adults, much less kids. But doing something nice for your little sister or making a card for your sick aunt—these are all gifts we give Jesus. Make a list of ideas and help the kids in your life complete one or two of them.
Thank God
Jesus is the gift God gives us. How can we say thank you? Don’t hesitate to ask your children. They will have some profound answers and ideas; help them carry out their ideas.
Remember the Poor
Jesus had a special love for the poor, and we are called to remember them. In fact, Jesus was born in a rundown stable, and his first visitors were the poorest and most humble people. Consider that some people are poor in companionship, while others are poor in materials and resources. Who might you be able to serve and help?
