Remembering the Pillars
July-August 2014
Prayer is the glue that binds the body of Christ to its head and its members to each other.
My grandmother looms large in my childhood memories. She spent her summers out on the farm, helping us pick and prepare, can and freeze a year’s worth of produce. In the winter, she walked a mile from her house in town to church, where she attended daily Mass and then worked in the Catholic school cafeteria. In every season, at 7:45 am on Sunday, she could be found seated in the front pew at church, praying the rosary before Mass.
