Vow to Show the Way
Let’s make a pledge to pray for change in the hearts and minds of those who would willfully destroy the sanctity and dignity of human life. Our prayers may help lost souls living among us.
Christ and the saints teach us that every soul is worth saving for the Kingdom of God. So many souls are teetering on the edge between good and evil. Many others have already fallen into evil’s grasp. All these souls need our prayers to help them find God’s love.
Time is of the essence. Belief in God continues to decline, especially among young people. Lack of faith tears at the heart of God’s greatest commandments—love God above all else and love one another as you do yourself. Without love, the soul is lost; without love, life loses its worth.
Living Faith
Our pledge must be more than praying the words. It must also be a promise to demonstrate God’s love within our own lives through good works that sanctify. To change hearts and minds, we must live our faith for everyone to see. How we do this is up to each of us. God gives all of us talents and abilities that can be used to glorify and strengthen the Kingdom of God.
Living our faith may seem intimidating at times. We often feel outnumbered, especially when we witness increasing attacks on the Church. At the same time, with God’s grace, an individual can make an incredible difference for the sake of salvation.
Born of the Blessed Virgin Mary, our good Lord came down from heaven to teach us the way, to show us the truth, and to give us life everlasting. We must not keep this Good News to ourselves. Like the shepherds who saw our Savior on the night of his birth, we are called to inform others—to share God’s love.
’Tis the Season
So as the seasons of Advent and Christmas approach, consider what gift to present to our Lord—for a lifetime. The best gift we can give is ourselves so our Lord can work through us. Aiding the sick, the poor, and the lonely as Christ asks in Matthew 25:35–40 brings goodwill to all. Doing so will help to change hearts and minds to believe that life is worth living. May our gift come with humble, contrite hearts and the joy of helping others in Jesus’ name. Amen!
